Product Description Beautifully illustrated edition that review a series of stage designs by architect and sculptor Longhi (b. Perú) created for the main theaters of Lima during the past 12 years. The book compiles the evolution of his conceptual approach and the refinement of formal language through the chronological review of his most representative stage designs. Longhi has developed a practice in the theater stages that combines his distinctive vision of space molder and sensitivity towards the materials. ENGLISH AND SPANISH TEXT About the Author Luis Longhi´s American experience started when he became the only student at the University of Pennsylvania to carry out the studies towards two master degrees simustaliusly, graduating as Master of Architecture and Master of Fine Arts with major in sculpture both with Honours in 1984. As student he met BV Doshi who invited him to work at his studio in Amhedabad, India, where he spent 6 months designing housing systems and visiting projects that Doshi collaborated with Le Corbusier and Louis Khan. Back in the US, he worked as personal assistant to Adele Santos in her Philadelphia Studio, to later continue his professional practice in offices such: David Slovic Architecture and Urban Design, Bower Lewis & Thrower Architects both in Philadelphia, Gruen Associates in Los Angeles and Farrington Design Group in Atlanta. In 1991 while working at Gruen Associates he studied Computer Animation for Architecture at the GSD Harvard University, adopting since then the computer as the main instrument for conceptual design. In 1994, after 13 years of experience in the US, Longhi decided to return to his native Peru, where he started his own professional and academic practices.. His personal search as architect and sculptor finds answers in the design and construction of small architectural projects, scenographys, exhibitions and installations in which ancestral Peruvian craftsmanship is used. He teaches with Juvenal Baracco in his internationally recognised Design Studio at Ricardo Palma University in Lima, where they have developed a unique method to teach first year in the 5 year program of architectural studies. In 2003 he was awarded as best Scenographer and invited to represent his country in the 10th International Exhibition of Shenography and Theatre Architecture: Prague Quadrennial. In 2004 he was finalist representing Peru in the 4th Iberoamerican Bienale of Architecture.
